Call for Awards Nominations of the International Association for Conflict Management

The International Association for Conflict Management (IACM) solicits nominations for the following awards, to be distributed at the Association’s 37th Annual Conference in SingaporeThe deadline for all IACM award nominations is Monday, February 19, 2024. IACM awards are determined by designated committees, and all members who meet the criteria below are eligible*. To review past recipients, please see here. *Current board members are not eligible for awards.

IACM Rubin Theory-to-Practice Award

At its annual conference, the International Association for Conflict Management honors meritorious contributions to the study of social conflict that epitomize the goals and purposes of the association. In 2024, the IACM will award the Rubin Theory-to-Practice Award to a member who has made important professional contributions at the nexus of theory, research, and practice. These contributions bridge research and practice, and either change practice or inspire theory and research. On behalf of IACM, you are invited to nominate a colleague for this award. Please send a two-page nomination letter outlining why you think the nominee is deserving of this award and the nominee’s current CV to the awards committee by clicking here.

 

2024 Early Career Award

The International Association for Conflict Management honors scholars in the first five years of their post-doctoral career who have shown exceptional promise for making significant contributions to the study of conflict management and negotiation. Nominees’ early careers should epitomize the goals and purposes of the association. Eligible nominees are those who received their PhD between 1/1/19 and 12/31/23. For this award, we invite you to nominate a colleague; multiple nominations of the same colleague should be filed separately, and self-nominations are not accepted. Please submit a one-page summary outlining why you think the nominee is deserving of this award, along with the nominee’s CV and one paper exemplifying their contributions (please do not submit additional materials). 2024 Outstanding Mentor Award

Inspired by the career and community-building activities of Donald E. Conlon, the IACM Outstanding Mentor Award recognizes individuals who have advanced the field of conflict management by serving as a mentor to and role model for colleagues including students, junior and senior faculty, and others in the IACM community. Mentorship includes excellence in advising students, supporting professional development, helping others develop a scholarly network, being an impactful scholar, and building community in IACM and related professional organizations. To nominate a colleague, submit a 2-page, double-spaced letter along with the nominee’s CV. The application should also include two supporting letters from colleagues and/or former students that highlight the nominee’s mentoring activities. 2024 IACM Outstanding Book (published in 2022-2023)

The International Association for Conflict Management honors the author of an outstanding book that advances conflict management and negotiation theory and practice. Books contributing to theory (original or refinements), research (including methods), and practice (including evaluations)—or at the nexus of these categories—will be considered. On behalf of IACM, you are invited to nominate books for the 2024 Outstanding Book Award. Eligible books were published between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023. Self-nominations are welcome. To nominate a book for this award, please submit a two-page letter that describes the contribution of the book and why it is deserving of this recognition to the awards committee by clicking here.

 

2024 IACM Outstanding Publication Award: Article or Book Chapter (published in 2022)

The International Association for Conflict Management honors the author(s) of a published article or book chapter that significantly advances the study of conflict management and negotiation. The nominated article or chapter should epitomize the goals and purposes of the association. Eligible articles and chapters are those published between 1/1/22 and 12/31/22 (final publication date, not online-first version). Nominations may have an empirical, theoretical, or practical focus. For this award, we invite you to nominate a colleague’s article or chapter; multiple nominations of the same article or chapter should be filed separately. Self-nominations are also acceptable. Please submit an approximately one-page summary outlining why you think the nominated article or chapter is deserving of this award, along with a pdf copy of the full manuscript (preferably the final version that appears in the journal or book; please do not submit additional materials). Additionally, in your summary, please provide the full citation for the nominated article or chapter. All materials should be submitted by clicking here.

 

DRRC-IACM Breakthrough Award

The Dispute Resolution Research Center (DRRC) at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management is thrilled to announce the 2024 DRRC-IACM Breakthrough Award. The award aims to support doctoral students from underrepresented backgrounds as they gain valuable professional experience in the early stages of their academic careers. The DRRC recognizes the importance of diverse viewpoints in advancing research and education on diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are dedicated to promoting the professional development of young scholars from diverse backgrounds who may face limited opportunities for networking and other career-enhancing experiences. To achieve this goal, we are excited to offer this award, which grants a $1500 stipend to current doctoral students to attend the 2024 IACM Conference. This award will help cover expenses related to registration, airfare, lodging, and other travel accommodations. Nominations for this award will be submitted directly to the DRRC. iDG & IACM Technology Innovator Award

The IACM-iDecisionGames Negotiation and Conflict Management Technology Innovator Award honors a scholar, educator, or practitioner who has made innovative use of technology in research, teaching, or practice in the area of negotiation and conflict management. Self-nominations are encouraged. To be considered for this award, please submit a link to a short video (less than 2 minutes) and/or a 1-page summary describing the innovation, the use of technology, factors that have led to its success, and its applicability to research, teaching, or practice in the area of negotiation and conflict management. All materials should be submitted by clicking here

 

Award winners will be notified prior to IACM 2024 in Singapore so that they may make plans to ensure attendance at the awards ceremony. Award winners may be invited to present their award winning material at the IACM 2024 conference.
