IACM Conference Session Format Information
As of IACM 2024 in Singapore, our poster session format is different this year to make it less costly for you, more accessible, more environmentally friendly, and easier on you!
QR posters with handouts
Instead of asking presenters to print a large color poster and carry it with them on a plane only to throw it away after the conference, we are asking presenters to create QR versions of their posters. You will include in your QR code the title and number assigned to your poster.
This way, people will be able to look at the poster offerings on the program and come find you more efficiently. There will be a map of the numbers, along with numbers already pinned up in the poster area so that you can affix your QR code.
There are many options to create a QR code (if you place your presentation on the cloud and use Chrome, you can create a QR code directly from the browser), but one option is this website to generate a free QR code. You need to sign up for a free account.
- Save your poster as a pdf, an image, an interactive display, or however your creativity suits you.
- Create your QR code
- Click next and create, and you can either have the code sent to your email or you can screenshot the code.
- Remember to try out your QR code to make sure that your poster is showing up as you intended.
- Save your QR code on a word doc (see template and example attached).
- If you wish, you may print out word doc and an A4 or letter-sized hard copy of your poster for if the audience would like to hold a physical version when talking with you. You may also save the QR code on your phone for the visitor to scan it when they approach you.
- Email IACM Executive Director Brandon Charpied (brandon@iafcm.org) with the link to your presentation. This link can be embedded into the conference program for early access and viewing.

*Poster session numbers will be provided prior to the conference. You do not have these numbers just yet.
- Each session will have a session chair to keep things running on time. This will be me or someone else. If it is someone else, I will let you know. Look for one of us at the front of the room when you arrive. Please arrive at least 5-6 minutes before the start time and let the session chair know you are there.
- Each presenter has 5 minutes to present. Please be realistic about how much you can present and practice your presentation at least once before your session to ensure you can finish within the 5-minute limit. I will be strict about the time limit to ensure everyone gets their full allotted time.
- As part of timekeeping, presenters are allowed a maximum of 5 slides. When we download your slides from the repository (below), we will make sure they fit within this limit and send them back to you if they do not.
- Presenters must deposit their presentation slides here by Saturday June 22 11:59pm EST (June 23 11:59am Singapore time). The session chair will have all presentations downloaded and open each presentation when the session begins to minimize transition time between presenters. We will not have time to download or open slides at the last minute. As we did last year, if we do not have your slides, you will have to present without them.
- FORMAT FILE NAME*** LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_TITLEofPRESENTATION
- Please sit at the front of the room so you can move quickly up to the podium when it is your turn. I will have a title slide at the beginning of the session, so you have an idea of when to be ready. This year, we will have a small 3-minute break between the talks so that we can all take a breather and absorb all the cool things we are doing!
