Session Description: In this session Maurice and Uri will discuss recent cases of data fraud in our field. We will take stock of what we know, discuss short-term next steps (e.g., how to deal with 100+ articles involved), and consider longer-term steps we can take to continue trusting one another, while increasing the trustworthiness of our empirical work. They will consider concrete actions advisors, co-authors, and journal editors can take for this purpose.

Maurice Schweitzer is the Cecilia Yen Koo Professor of Operations, Information, and Decisions (OID) and Management at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has published articles on trust, negotiations, and emotions, and he has served as an Associate Editor for Negotiations and Conflict Management Research, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Management Science . He is a past President and a Fellow of the International Association for Conflict Management.

Uri Simonsohn is a behavioral science professor at Esade business school in Barcelona, and co-director of Wharton’s Credibility Lab which manages AsPredicted, ResearchBox, R package ‘groundhog’, and GRAN (a depository of all R packages ever available on CRAN). Uri co-hosts the academic blog ‘Data Colada’ and writes peer-reviewed articles on methodology and Judgment & Decision Making. He is an AE for Management Science.
