Post-Conference Excursion: Belvedere Palace & Gardens

Join fellow IACM attendees for an afternoon visit to the stunning Belvedere Palace on Wednesday, July 8th. This self-guided excursion is a perfect way to explore Vienna's cultural heritage.

Meeting Details

  • When: Wednesday, July 8th - We suggest meeting at the Upper Belvedere main entrance near 2:00 PM.

  • Where: Belvedere Palace (Upper Belvedere entrance)

How to Register All tickets must be purchased through the official Belvedere website to secure your entry time.

  • Booking: Please select the 8 July, 2:00 PM time slot to align with the group.

  • Recommendation: The "2 in 1" day ticket offers access to both the Upper and Lower Belvedere at a discounted rate of € 32,00 as opposed to separate purchase for € 43,00.

  • Note: Your time slot is valid for entry to the Upper Belvedere. If you hold a combination ticket, you may visit the Lower Belvedere at any time during the same day.

Important Visitor Information

  • Large bags and backpacks are not permitted inside the galleries. Free cloakrooms are available at the entrance.

  • The palace gardens are free to access and offer a wonderful space to meet before or after your tour.

  • Please be aware that Belvedere 21 will be closed on this date for exhibition installation.

We encourage everyone to book tickets in advance to ensure availability for the 2:00 PM window. If you are unable to book the 2:00pm time, select the nearest to that as admission windows are offered every 15-minutes.

Wednesday Afternoon Excursion – IIASA at Laxenburg

Join us for an informal group trip to the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg on Wednesday afternoon after lunch with an accompanied guide for the group who will be met at Wien Hauptbahnhof around 1:30 pm.

Getting to Wien Hauptbahnhof (~15–20 min from hotel)

Choose one of the following options:

  • Walk – ~15–18 min (1.3 km) via Arsenalstraße/Gudrunstraße
  • Tram D – from Rennweg (next to hotel), 4 stops to Hauptbahnhof Ostseite (~7 min; runs every 7–10 min)
  • U-Bahn U1 – ~5-min walk to Südtiroler Platz – Hauptbahnhof (runs every 3–5 min)

Hauptbahnhof → Laxenburg (~30–35 min)

Take Bus 200 or 210 (direct, no transfers) from the Regionalbushaltestelle beneath Hauptbahnhof. Both lines run on the hour and half hour.
