How to Encourage Open-minded Engagement Around Divisive Topics?


Abstract: The present symposium will explore different interventions, persuasion and discussion tactics, and individual differences that predict willingness to engage with opposing beliefs and those who hold them. Together, these papers explore interventions, persuasion and discussion tactics, and individual differences that predict the willingness to engage with opposing beliefs and those who hold them. By tackling this same question from a variety of angles, these scholars provide a holistic approach to our understanding of the psychological processes at play when engaging with divisive topics.
