Peter Carnevale has received the following IACM awards: Outstanding Papers (twice in 1992), Rubin Award (2002), Best Theoretical Paper (2006), Appreciate Award (2007), and the Outstanding Book Award (2008). Peter studies negotiation and third-party mediation. He has published two books and more than 100 articles in leading scientific and management journals on this topic. Much of his research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and other governmental organizations. Professor Carnevale served as the President of the International Association for Conflict Management, the premier association of scholars in the study of negotiation and social conflict, and as an adviser on negotiation and organizational conflict to many organizations and governments. His current research investigates the role of emotion expression by artificial humans (e.g., “avatars”) in negotiation, and is currently funded by the National Science Foundation program on Social-Computational Systems (SoCS).
