Abstract: This study explores how employees respond to artificial intelligence (AI) recommendations, especially when diverging from their initial judgments. Drawing on recent research, we investigate the influence of Big Five personality traits on cognitive AI appraisals—opportunity and threat—and subsequent behaviors. Findings reveal that personality traits predict distinct cognitive AI appraisals, which in turn correlate with specific behavioral patterns. A three-wave field study among U.S. employees examines these dynamics, revealing significant relationships between personality traits, AI appraisals, and behaviors. This research underscores the importance of a human-centered approach to understanding employee-AI interactions and offers insights for effective AI integration in organizational settings.
