Abstract: As Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLM) such as ChatGPT rapidly merge into people’s daily life experiences, one underdeveloped perspective of AI-related empirical studies is whether people think of AI as technical support or as a friend whom they consider being involved in their social networks. Our study aims to understand the role of emotional, sentiment, or facial expression in online AI-human interaction for AI to be perceived as more positive in different characteristics, as well as whether the homophily effect moderates the main effect as our exploratory hypothesis, which could provide insights for computer scientists in terms of how to train and build AIs in the future from the emotional perspective.
