Boomerasking: Answering Your Own Questions

We explore a novel and puzzling conversational sequence, when a question asker answers their own question instead of listening, aka “boomerasking”. Across several topics, conversation partners think this behaviour is especially insincere and unlikeable, compared to just starting directly with the answer, although boomeraskers falsely believe they are being inclusive.
