The Gender License Gap: Gendered Barriers in the Engineering Licensing Process

Abstract: We investigate the gender gap in the licensing process for professional engineers. Our results highlight the intersection of gender and age in understanding the gender licensing gap: younger (but not older) women are less likely than their male counterparts to satisfy the professional experience requirement to be licensed.
