Gendered Helping, Hierarchy Maintenance, and Race

Abstract: Three studies examine how gender and race influence the positive outcomes that women accrue for conforming to gender norms. We find that when White, but not Black or Asian, women conform to gender-norms, they receive more resources and mentorship from White perceivers, particularly those motivated to uphold traditional gender relations.
