The Effects of Benefactor Type On Recipients’ Willingness To Accept Help

With the omnipresent threat of small- and large-scale humanitarian crises throughout the world, we seek to explore factors that influence people’s willingness to accept help from others. We hypothesize that individuals in need will be more likely to accept help from organizations than individuals. An online experimental study provided partial support for our hypothesis. Exploratory analyses revealed a gender effect on people’s willingness to accept help from organizations vs. individuals.
