Collective Self Esteem and Dominant Group Allyship

Ample work suggests that dominant groups usually prefer to maintain their place in the social hierarchy rather than support equity. We suggest that differences between liberal and conservative dominant group members’ (e.g. men and Whites) support for equity stems from different understandings of their dominant identities through private collective self-esteem.
