Negotiation and Team Resources (NTR), Peterson Grant Awardees Symposium: Relationship-Building Through Expression Across Conflict and Negotiation Contexts

Abstract: In this featured symposium, we showcase the research of a selection of Negotiation and Team Resources (NTR) Peterson Research Grant awardees. NTR research grants are awarded to applicants whose research is judged to have an interesting central research question and feasible design, high likelihood of publication in top-tier review outlets, and high likelihood of making a broad impact on theory and practice in the field of negotiation and conflict management, broadly construed. NTR strives to fund research that advances multimethod examination of communication and interaction processes between parties in negotiations and conflicts. The authors present research that examines relationship- and trust-building in a variety of contexts of conflict and collaboration. Across the contributions in this symposium, the authors provide evidence that the antecedents and consequences of relationship- and trust-building strategies differ as a function of characteristics of the context.
