Star Wars & Conflict Resolution

Abstract: This symposium will report on the Star Wars and Conflict Resolution project and its activities, and panelists will some of the topics covered in its forthcoming book. The session will combine discussion of the Star Wars movies with negotiation and conflict management research. In this panel, editors and chapter authors will discuss the project, the specific themes they explored in their writing, and the benefits of this topic for widespread conflict resolution literacy. Following the presentations, we hope to generate community discussion around two issues: 1) Their own insights combining Star Wars and Conflict Resolution 2) Other projects that might utilize pop culture phenomena to attract a large general audience to learn conflict resolution principles.

As the topics and the list of presenters indicate, this symposium is intended to be, at the same time, both serious and seriously fun.
