THE IMPACT OF E-GOVERNANCE OF LAND RECORD AND SOCIAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION: A CASE STUDY OF PUNJAB PROVINCE PAKISTAN

As an important step towards e-governance in Pakistan, the Punjab provincial government has simplified and computerized the procedure of land registration and transfer through Land Record Management Information System (LRMIS). It is operational in majority of districts across Punjab since 2017. This study aims to investigate the impact of LRMIS implementation on land-related dispute resolution in Punjab by adopting a quasi-experimental approach using Difference-in-Difference and qualitative thematic analysis techniques. Furthermore, it will also evaluate the social impacts of this project scientifically and rigorously. Here brief introduction and methodology along with the empirical plan of the study are discussed.
